Deis Roc

Searching for new Irish bands!!!

TG4 is preparing for the second series of Deis Roc (literally an opportunity to Rock) -the ground breaking battle of the bands show which will re-appear on our screens in January next year.

The first series of Deis Roc was a huge success and attracted a new young audience to TG4.

For the first time bands from all over the country were performing on television in English and in Irish.

12 bands featured on the show, which was ultimately won by Exit The Street, a five-piece rock band hailing from Co. Cork.

Tobar Productions and Green Inc Film and Television, the companies behind the series are currently looking for new bands and solo artists from all around the country to enter the competition.

This year, instead of 12 bands, Deis Roc will feature 16 bands, giving even more independent/ unsigned bands a chance to perform their music on a nationwide platform.

We are encouraging applications from bands/ artists from all musical genres. Provided it is great music and young people are into it, we want to hear it.

The series will be recorded in Belfast in early December.

The bands/artists to be featured on Deis Roc will be chosen by a panel of judges and announced on TG4 on the 12th November 2007.

Bands are asked to email info@tobarproductions.com for an application form. Applicants must be aged 17 or above.

At least one member of the band must be a good Irish speaker. Applications close on 31st October. The outright winners of the competition will receive €10,000 or equivalent.
